Haifa Economic Corporation leads the photovoltaic energy sector as part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable renewable energy solutions and strengthen the city’s energy resilience. As early as 2011, the company conducted a comprehensive mapping of public building rooftops and installed solar systems across the city. These systems generate clean electricity from solar energy, reduce air pollution, and contribute to a healthier, greener urban environment.
The project was developed through a national tender process, through which the company generates long term revenue from the sale of electricity to the national grid. As a municipal corporation, approximately 50% of the profits are reinvested back into the community, with a strong emphasis on education in the city.
In parallel, the company continues to expand its solar generation capacity, maintain existing systems, and develop new installations, as part of building a comprehensive municipal energy arm that integrates generation, storage, and smart energy management.
